Hi. I’m Whitney Nelsen: Lady gadabout. Gentleman misfit. Nerd enthusiast. Amateur podcaster.
Born and bred in Southern California, but never realized I was a dyed-in-the-wool East Coast girl until I packed up my things and moved across the country. I currently reside in New York City.
Professionally, I got my start in the food and beverage industry at the tender age of 15. It instilled in me the ability to multitask under extreme pressure, the ability to grab very hot plates with my bare hands, and a rudimentary knowledge of insults in Spanish. It turned my enjoyment of food into a serious hobby, and also gave me a near-endless list of crazy customer stories that have been used for customer-service-skill reference in many a job interview.
I went to school for film, but as you can see from my (woefully inaccurate) IMDB page it wasn’t for me. You can still ask me how to make spiderwebs or distress a bench, though!
I have enjoyed writing ever since my first noir pulp detective novel at age 10. Former contributor to Geekadelphia.
Currently, I am an account manager, content marketer, social media and SEO strategist all rolled into one at a startup in Manhattan.
In my spare time, I like to travel as much as possible, drinking craft cocktails, eating and/or cooking food, naps, and video games. (I harbor a secret desire to leave the rat race behind and spend all my time training to become the oldest professional lady eSports player.)
In everything from professional content creation to gif’ing your Tumblr, I’m your girl. Or if you want to talk about dogs that look dumb, the best place to find cacio e pepe, and the finer parts of Buffy the Vampire Slayer… I’m still your girl. Let’s meet! Coffee’s on me.
